Undergraduate Students
Thank you for your interest in undergraduate studies in Earth Sciences at the University of Maine.
We have several major research groups in the Department, including geodynamics and crustal studies; environmental geochemistry and hydrogeology; glacial geology, glaciology, Quaternary geology, and climate modeling; and marine geology and sedimentology. In addition, we have close working relationships (including many joint appointments) with the Climate Change Institute, the School of Marine Sciences, the Maine Geological Survey and the Geological Society of Maine.
Please look over the available courses and list of faculty and their interests. You can find more information about the activities of specific research groups by clicking "Research Areas" or "Projects" on the left menu. We encourage you to telephone or e-mail a faculty member with whom you may have a shared interest. Even better, if you can travel to Orono, we would be glad to give you a tour of our custom-designed building and discuss our program in greater detail.
There are several possibilities for support, including awards and scholarships.
