  • 1970 - Dr. Philip Osberg acquires a MAC 400s electron microprobe
  • 1983 - EPSCOR sponsored computer automation of the MAC 400s
  • 1984 - The first full-time Lab Manager (sponsored by NSF-EPSCOR)
  • 1986 - Dr. Martin Yates employed as full time Lab Manager
  • 1989 - Acquisition of Energy Dispersive Spectrometer system (NSF EAR-89-16487)
  • 1993 - Donation of ARL SEMQ electron microprobe by USGS Reston and system upgrade sponsored by NSF EAR-93-16199
  • 2002 - Acquisition of new Cameca SX-100 electron microprobe and Emitek Carbon Evaporator with funds from NSF EAR - MRI-0116235 and Maine Economic Development Improvement Fund of the Maine State Legislature
